Run with the Burros is a one of a kind trail running charity event through the heart of the Gila National Forest. Choose between a half-marathon or 5K and experience rugged dirt roads, winding single-track trails, and expansive views you won’t find anywhere else, all alongside very cool burro companions. You can choose to bring your burro and run, or just yourself. Either way, it’ll be a wonderful experience supporting outdoor education, research, and stewardship!
This event is about community, adventure, and celebrating the wild. After the run, participants are invited to stick around for a barbecue, good vibes, and well earned relaxation. Spectators are also welcome to join the barbecue! A link to RSVP for the barbecue will be available soon, so bring your cheer squad.
Expect beautiful scenery, dusty shoes, trail run magic, and maybe a glass of wine as you swap stories post-race. Whether you’re here for the miles, the burros, or the cause, this is not your average run, and that’s the point.
All proceeds support Natural Curiosity’s outdoor education and conservation mission. Come run wild with us!
About the event…
More Information
All participants are expected to arrive at the event site, our Hermosa Field Station, the evening before race day. Limited indoor lodging is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Once those spaces are filled, participants may reserve an on-site campsite or choose to camp in the nearby national forest.
The registration fee includes participation in the race, barbecue, and, for those with a burro, space in our communal corrals with automatic water troughs. If you would prefer to bring your own panels so your burro has its own space, please inform us in advance so we can plan accordingly.
