Mission
To advance conservation through research, experiential education, and immersive outdoor experiences. We plan to accomplish this by engaging people with nature and giving them the knowledge, skills, and confidence to do conservation work and recreate in nature.

The Hermosa Field Station
Located in the Black Range of the Gila National Forest, our field station serves as our primary base for programs, trainings, research, and backcountry education. Visitors are always welcome. Learn more about the field station, including our ongoing projects to restore a historic ghost town into a center for education and research.
Programs
We offer a variety of programs centered on outdoor education, research, and experiential learning in the natural environment. Listed below are some of our main programs.
The Wild Semester Program offers undergraduate students an immersive semester of field-based learning focused on ecology, conservation, and living in a remote field setting.
NC Summer Day Camp
Our summer day camp for youth in Sierra County at our Animas Campus in Caballo, New Mexico provides hands-on outdoor education, science activities, and nature exploration for local youth.
Our Wilderness Program for undergraduate students combines backcountry travel, outdoor skills, and environmental education through extended wilderness expeditions.
Puma Ecology and Management Programs
Our Puma Ecology and Management Programs are extended field-based learning experiences focused on mountain lion ecology, behavior, habitat use, and research methods such as remote camera monitoring.
